Seabirds of Lord Howe Island
The ocean surrounding Lord Howe Island provides abundant food each spring and summer
for hundreds of thousands of seabirds from 14 species. In addition there are regular visitors
easily seen for some months of the year, plus a number of irregular visitors who stop
occasionally. Below are just some of the seabirds. In addition a boat trip offshore will often
reveal
rarer species such as Wandering Albatross, Black-browed albatross, Cape petrel,
Great
Northen petrel and White-necked petrel.
